I love watching the (now) syndicated show “Golden Girls”. My old roomate in college got me watching it, and I’ve been hooked for the last 10 years. I love the togetherness, love and laughs the women share together. We all need a Blanche, Rose, Dorothy & Sophia in our lives…seriously! Having someone in our lives with whom we can share our feelings, thoughts, fears and daily happenings with gives us more benefits than we realize. Having friendships is good for our mental health. Friendships:

  • increase our sense of social belonging
  • support positive mental health
  • raise our self-esteem

It saddens me when I hear individuals speak about how they don’t have anyone in their life that they can call a friend, or someone in their life that they don’t trust enough to let in all the way. Like all relationships, friendships take work and require time spent working on them. I’m very blessed to have great friends, and a best friend with whom I can share anything with and know I’ll be accepted.
